Frequently Asked Questions:

How to I bring up the main Wallpaper Wizard screen?
The main screen for Wallpaper Wizard is referred to as the Control Panel.  From the Control Panel, you can change the image rotation, skip to different images, change your viewing options, or manually check for image updates and news.

Wallpaper Wizard will start automatically when you login or start your computer.  When running, you will notice the Wallpaper Wizard icon in your system tray.  What is the System Tray? It is the area at the very lower-right corner of your screen where the clock is normally displayed.  If you right click this icon, a pop-up menu will display allowing you to perform common tasks.  The first option is to open the Control Panel.

Can I change when and how often the pictures change?
Yes, you can. Wallpaper Wizard has a scheduling feature that allows you to change the rotation schedule. You can change them as often as every minute, to as little as once a day. It is up to you!
To change the rotation schedule, click on the clock button on the control panel. It is displayed right of the count-down clock. The schedule form will display allowing you to make your changes.

Can I save the pictures to a graphic file I can use?
No. The pictures you are downloading are only allowed to be used as part of the Wallpaper Wizard program.  They are all copyrighted by the photographer who took them.  If you want to purchase a copy of the image you need to contact the photographer.  If you need the contact information, contact us and we will provide it for you.

Is there a way to change the black border around the pictures?
Yes!  The border is the black area that may or may not be around the picture displayed on your desktop.  Some folks like to have that area for their desktop icons.  You can determine the size of the border to match your own needs.

To modify the border size, bring up the Wallpaper Wizard control panel and select View Options from the Tools menu.  If you set the value to zero, you will have no border.  The larger you make the setting, the wider the border.

The news takes up to much of the picture. Can I turn it off?
Yes, you can hide the current news items.  Doing so will make more of the image visible on your desktop.  Wallpaper Wizard will continue to look for new items even after you hide the current entries.  When new items arrive, the new items will become visible for you automatically.

To hide the news items, you can either right-click on the Wallpaper Wizard icon in the system tray, or choose the Hide Current News option from the Tools menu on the Control Panel.

Can I manually display the next picture in the list?
You can manually step through the images in your list.  The easiest way is to double-click the Wallpaper Wizard icon in the system tray.  This will manually change your desktop display to the next picture in the list.  If you right-click the icon, you can choose to display the next or previous picture from the popup menu.

Can I put my own pictures in the list?
Sorry, but no you can’t. The images are provided by the list manager, and only those images can be displayed with the Wallpaper Wizard software.

Why are my images not rotating?
One of two things would cause this. Either your Wallpaper Wizard software is not running, or you have not reached the next update time defined by the rotation schedule.

If Wallpaper Wizard is running, you will see the WPW Icon in your system tray. What is the system Tray? It is the area in the lower-right corner of your screen. It is the portion of the task bar where the clock is displayed. If you do not see the icon in the tray, then the software is not running and your images will not automatically display. To start Wallpaper Wizard, press the start button, and click the Wallpaper Wizard program icon. It is located in the Wallpaper Wizard program group.

If the Wallpaper Wizard icon is in your system tray, then you can simply wait for the next automatic update or manually change the picture by double clicking the icon.

If you still have problems, contact our Technical Support staff for help. We will gladly assist you.

When do I get new images, and how does that happen?
The coolest thing about Wallpaper Wizard is that it automatically retrieves new images for you.  How often this happens depends on the list, but most scholastic lists are updated twice a week.  You really don’t have to do anything.  As long as Wallpaper Wizard is running, your images will be automatically updated.

Important Note: If you are running a dial-up Internet connection, then Wallpaper Wizard will only update the images when your connection is available.  You can manually check for new images by choosing the option from the Magic List menu on the Control Panel.

Does this service cost me anything?
No.  The service is free to anyone who wants to enjoy the pictures.  Each list has a group of sponsors.  Logos for each sponsor are displayed in the lower-right corner of the images.

Make sure you support them, as they are the ones who cover the cost of the program.  When you visit one of the sponsors, let them know you saw their logo on your wallpaper!
